Exploring the Level 2 Syllabus Pranayamas with John Schumacher
Join us for an incredible opportunity to study the Level 2 syllabus pranayama breaths with John Schumacher.
Each syllabus requires candidates to be able to practice and teach not just asanas, but pranayamas as well.
The Level 2 syllabus begins to explore seated pranayama. Besides ujjayi and viloma breathing while seated (including kumbakha during ujjayi), digital pranayama (without the retention of breath) is also introduced. Finally, the Level 2 syllabus includes bhramari, sitali and sitkari. John will address as many of these interesting and important pranayamas as possible, as well as maha mudra which is covered in the Level 2 syllabus. Register Now

John will teach a 2 hour class exploring the pranayamas, and then will leave 30 minutes for Q and A about any of the asanas or pranayamas on the Level 2 syllabus.
This workshop is open to Certified Iyengar Yoga Teachers (CIYTs), those training to become CIYTs, and other students with a regular pranayama practice. The workshop will be recorded and the recording will be available for 90 days after the event.
John Schumacher is the founder and director of Unity Woods Yoga Center, based in the metropolitan Washington D.C. area. John began studying with B.K.S. Iyengar in 1981 and is one of the few teachers in the U.S. to have been awarded an advanced teaching certificate from Mr. Iyengar. John’s clear, precise style and his engaging sense of humor have made him one of America’s leading teachers. He has taught thousands of students, trained hundreds of teachers and continues to give weekly classes and workshops on line. His teaching is directed toward guiding students to explore the many levels of their being with courage and curiosity.
